Current Favorite Books and Cookbooks:
–Glucose Revolution by Jessie Inchauspe: This book is an easy read! I initially listened to it during a road trip but the book is beautiful! I’m a visual learner- so seeing the graphs in the book depicting the impact of how certain foods can affect our sugar spike broke my brain. She recommends several “food hacks” that will naturally increase your GLP hormone- so cool!
–Ending the Eczema Epidemic by Ana-Maria Temple, MD: A great friend (thanks Crystal!) recommended this book when I was battling skin challenges after having Covid in 2022. For the first time in my life, my immune system was a hot mess and skin redness, itching, and irritation was constant. I never truly understood the gravity of skin challenges until I experienced it first hand. The author gives specific recommendations to heal the body from the inside out through supporting gut health, avoiding environmental irritants, and supporting the immune system.
–Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease by Caldwell B. Esselstyn, Jr. MD: I learned about this book while working for a California-based virtual health care company that promoted health and wellness through a whole food plant-based diet! Dr. Esselstyn is a wealth of information and internationally acclaimed. He not only provides specific, evidence based recommendations in his book, but also gives hope to people who either struggle with heart disease or have a risk of heart disease due to family history.
–Be a Plant-Based Woman Warrior Cookbook by Jane Esselstyn and Ann Crile Esselstyn: Ok, hear me out- don’t judge this book by its cover! My husband was eating a ketogenic diet and I was attempting a whole-food plant based diet while working for a company that promoted health and wellness through a whole-food plant based diet…I didn’t cook at the time and needed an easy, yummy way to improve my diet and in turn- give recommendations to patients. These recipes are SO yummy and many are still a fan favorite as we’ve all gone with a high protein, high fiber, decreased processed food diet. This cookbook is family approved!
–Meals She Eats by Tom and Rachel Sullivan: This is my top recommendation for those close to me who are struggling with PCOS (now called PMOS). The author takes a personal approach to educating and empowering women who struggle with hormone regulation: from personal stories to nourishing recipes- you won’t regret this purchase!
