Personal Care

Cleaner Choices. Better Living. Real Life.

My big shift in personal care products began in 2020 when my daughter asked to play with my make-up. I had a gut feeling that my make-up ingredients likely were not the best for her young, fresh, healthy self- however- it made me take an intentional pause and ask myself why I wasn’t concerned about my own health potentially being negatively affected by the daily personal care products that I was using. Fast forward to today and you might find me with my family in tow, reading the labels of soaps and lotions in the local Target (pls say hello!). I’ve officially started to empower the next generation to take a pause at what the body is coming in contact with- and it’s the best! Over the years, we’ve tried countless hair-care items, make-up brands, and detergents…we’ve found it best to take baby steps because lets face it- everything is expensive! Baby steps can add up over time and my hope is that down the road you’ll look back and be encouraged by the benefits of changing out a few things to reduce your body burden.

Body burden: the total amount of toxic chemicals carried in the body at any given time. It may refer to the accumulation of a single or multiple chemicals.

Switch Natural App: this is by far my favorite app to quickly scan an ingredient list and check the safety data of the ingredients of the product scanned. Over time I’ve found that I don’t need to always use the app to quickly check the safety of a – new to us- product (we always avoid synthetic fragrances due to known hormone disruption and carcinogenic properties) BUT companies are becoming more sneaky by changing the names of ingredients to appear more clean. This app is worth the investment!

Crunchi Make-up: Crunchi has been my go-to make-up and skincare company for the past 6+ years! Clean beauty that performs is hard to find- but this made in the USA company has high performing standards and high safety standards- a win win! Code: Advocate15 for extra savings!

Hair Care Products: HiBar Shampoo/Conditioner remain my top recommendations for a clean, effective hair care product for those who have sensitive/irritated scalps. My biggest tip is saturating your hair because the HiBar products are bars of shampoo/conditioner so you will get a good lather with adequate water in your hair! Trust the process! I experienced significant hair loss after having Covid and found best results with Divi hair serum to restore and maintain my hair loss. I massaged a full dropper into my scalp nightly for a full bottle and then three times weekly for maintenance. Divi hair serum is a must for people taking a GLP injection because hair loss can often be a significant struggle.

Skylar Perfume: This brand is one of the very few on the market to boast: hypoallergenic, vegan, parabens, and phthalates free! My favorite scents are Pink Canyon and Salt Air but I always encourage folks to grab a Discovery Set to start!

Thrive Grocery: Thrive has been a consistent fan favorite in our house for a while now- we like to try new “on the go” snacks and we love their organic gluten free options!
